Colhibin is a biological plant-derived inhibitor of collagenases enzymes or Matrix MetalloProteinases (MMP)/ an extraordinary collagen protecting properties. UV radiation can damage collagen fibers (the major structural protein in the skin) and cause accumulation of abnormal elastin (the protein that causes tissue to stretch). During the process, large amounts of enzymes called collagenases or Matrix MetalloProteinases (MMP) are produced.
